Written translation

Contracts, manuals, papers, subtitles and website copy. Spanish, English and Russian, a page of 1,800 characters, agreed terminology and preserved layout.

I do written translation myself, without a quick machine draft. Terminology is agreed before the work starts and the finished text keeps the original formatting.

Texts I work with

  • Business and law: contracts, articles of association, powers of attorney, proposals, business correspondence.
  • Technical: instructions, operating manuals, specifications, test reports.
  • Science and education: papers, abstracts, curricula, diplomas and transcripts.
  • Culture and media: scripts, subtitles, exhibition catalogues, press releases, website copy.

How the volume is counted

One translation page is 1,800 characters with spaces in the finished translation. I count the volume in advance and quote a final figure that does not grow as the work goes on. Repeated fragments in large documents are counted at a discount.

Turnaround

The usual pace is 8–10 pages per working day. Short documents of up to 3 pages are most often ready the same day. I take rush jobs with a 50% surcharge, but only when I am sure quality will not suffer.
